About

Single-origin agarwood, distilled and aged

One province, one cut year, one still. The house sells what came off it and says where it came from.

The house

A house built on the tree, not the blend

Abu Oud began as a distiller's answer to a simple question: what does one province, in one year, smell like on its own.

Zyshan distills every oil at source from wild-harvest agarwood, then ages it in Villa Park before it is decanted by hand. Each release is named for the province the wood came from and the year it was cut. Nothing is blended across origins, and nothing is stretched with carrier oil.

Vintages are small because the trees are. When a year is gone, it is gone.

The still

Eleven days in copper, at low heat

The still sits forty minutes from where the tree fell, which is why the 2016 carries none of the sourness that comes from wood travelling wet.

First and second fractions are kept separate; only the second is bottled. It then rested four years in glass before any of it was offered.
