This dark green oudiness of an oil, the aroma of which will strike you immediately as you unscrew the cap, and that first sniff will have you experience a deep mentholic-diesel dive in to a swamp of green oud.

As you get submerged halfway into this green matter, you will exposed to a very subtle citrus note, and finally be met out by a gourmand & tenacious vanillic silhouette of kinds.

There’s this piercing note that reminds me of rich oud resin burning over kerosene amidst the distilleries in Indonesia, particularly North Sumatra, which is very common, and also where this oil was procured, in Bandar Aceh DarusSalam, hence Oud DarusSalam.

Journeying further into these unchartered territories, you will encounter a very lustful & narcotic bouquet of many shades of lush green brightness. Surrounded by a minty jungle vibe & wafts of a blend of brown and green vetiver takes me back to the greatest medieval travelers, the author of one of the most famous travel books, the Rihlah (Travels). of Ibn Batuta RA who traversed these grounds in 1345 & 1346

Bandar Aceh Darussalam was originally established in the 15th century, and served as a capital and hub for the Sultanate Of Aceh. Later its name was changed to Bandar Aceh Darussalam, and then it became popularly known as Banda Aceh. The first part of the name comes from the Persian word bandar (بندر) meaning "port" or "haven". The city is also dubbed the "port to Mecca," or the "porch of Mecca" (Indonesian: Serambi Mekkah) in reference to the days when Hajj-pilgrims travelled by sea from Indonesia and would make a stopover in the city before continuing their journey to Mecca.

Owing to its name Oud DarusSalam, the “house of peace” or “The Oil of the house of peace”, who's nectar simultaneously blossoms and mellows into this ethereal brightness.  And SubhanAllah, there you have it, the sweet & sour red cherry note that emerges, weaving in and out between the soft vanilla & the dark green to resemble what some might call “the cola note” which is simply elegant.

Overall, however, this remains a dark green jungle-type oud which, alongside the gorgeous red cherry note mentioned earlier, also has floral, leathery, vetivery, mossy and even an almost dark, diesel-like facet to it which is hard to accurately describe, but makes it a fascinating oil in any collection.
